This project aims to stimulate and recover older people's memories through football
Mestalla has once again been the main setting for the third edition of the ‘Football-Based Reminiscence Workshops’, held with the collaboration of Valencia CF and the VCF Foundation, the Valencia CF Footballers’ Association, the LALIGA Foundation and the Spanish Federation of Veteran Footballers’ Associations (FEAFV). More than 700 people have taken part in the project throughout the season, visiting some of the most iconic stadiums in our country.
Fernando Giner – President of the Valencia CF Footballers’ Association –, Vicente Guillot – Honorary President of the Valencia CF Footballers’ Association –, Miguel Ángel Bossio and Miguel Tendillo – Valencia CF ambassadors –, together with Miguel Ángel Adorno and Juan Catafau – former Club players – have guided the tours around our stadium so that the elderly participants could recall and work through their memories by sharing anecdotes and experiences from their youth linked to our iconic home and the Club’s history.
Over the past few months, the workshops have been held at the ‘Savia Paiporta’ and ‘Colisée El Saler’ care homes with the aim of stimulating and recovering memories from childhood, youth and adulthood through football among older people, with or without cognitive impairment, brain injury or mental health conditions.
